One of the video games that I have played recently and have always played on and off for the past several years is Minecraft. It has always been a game that I love but recently have come to an appreciation for it that is more than in past years. The thing that I have really come to enjoy about it is that it is relaxing, great to play with friends, and the art style is extremely unique but amazing. I would definitely recommend this game to others, as well as tell you that it is worth paying full price for and here are some reasons why; Minecraft is for sure a very open world game, and as far as I know not a lot of story line behind it. Basically the main goal is to build, mine, and create whatever you please in a world of your own, there are no boundaries (for the most part). You first spawn into a game with nothing and are left to harvest resources and create tools for survival. Once you have gotten basic necessities you can progress further and create or do whatever you want. When I say create I mean you can quite literally build whatever you want using blocks and some variety of other objects, which actually leads into the graphics and art style of the game. Minecraft is all blocked based, meaning that every part of the game is made of a cube or distinct pixel of sorts, which requires some basic math and planning when building stuff. Which in a way totally fits the game style, being a survival game, and I only say this because Minecraft has a very unique art style especially for a survival based game but turned out being a total success. As far as the way the game functions, I think that the graphics accurately match the way the player moves and how other things function, people and animals in the game move more robotic rather than fluidly. In my opinion the biggest thing that Mojang hit home on was depth and appropriate perspective in this game. As non-visually realistic as this game is, the nature in the game is truly magnificent, they did an extraordinary job of implementing colors to match each scenery and especially sunsets during game-play. As well as visual art, the audio in the game was pretty much mastered, that includes basic sound effects and especially background music. Both of those set the perfect mood, sometimes the music will even match the intensity of the game creating a whole different kind of experience. The one thing that they also did a good job of in my opinion were the controls, even though they were basic they were all you needed due to the game being pretty basic as far as movement goes, I think they could have done a little bit of a better job with it but nothing major at all. At that point its all really based on preference. The games code and interface was all very good, I can't remember any times where the game crashed or had any problems with formatting and grammar. This leads me to say that I would rate this game five out of five stars, I personally enjoyed the style, game-play, and vibe of the whole game, it is a game for creative people due to their being not a lot of structure really at all. Even if you don't consider yourself a creative person, this game may bring out the creative side in you, I would recommend it for all audiences. Again, five out of five stars, great game!
